SCOPE

The Esslemont based in Aberdeen, Scotland is a high end fine dining venue with an old department store feel. Space Group’s furniture team delivered this project.

OVERVIEW

Space Group were asked to design and manufacture the furniture element of this project, working alongside Nicoll Russell Studios (www.nrsarchitects.com) who designed The Esslemont, part of The McGinty’s Group (www.mcgintysgroup.co.uk). The building was historically a department store and the restaurant’s interior scheme reflects this.

Mannequins were used as a design feature to dress the restaurant and display the buildings heritage, alongside shop fitted bar displays that wouldn’t look out of place in a tailors. The interior has a classic colour scheme, which is reflected in the furniture supplied and manufactured by Space. The layout design uses a mix of table sizes, ensuring flexibility within the dining space, whether the setting for romantic dinner for two or a large group celebration. The two main colours, grey and mustard, were used to highlight the furniture’s details, not dissimilar to how you might highlight details on a tailored suit. This further reflects the buildings heritage, while dark wood finishes compliment the panelled ceiling features and chevron flooring.
